Asier Garitano: "We were conditioned by an excessively heavy result. We received an important blow but I congratulate the players".

The coach of C.D. Leganés, Asier Garitano, held a press conference after the 1-2 defeat against Rayo Vallecano at Butarque, which meant Leganés' elimination from the promotion play-offs. According to the coach, "we were conditioned by an excessively heavy result in Vallecas. It was not possible and we tried our best. We received an important blow and I congratulate the players because after a good season, it's a shame. We leave with a bad taste in our mouths, but that's soccer".

Regarding the assessment of the match, for Garitano "we had a very good first half, where we hardly suffered. We wanted to make Rayo uncomfortable and scare them and the pity was that we didn't go to the break with a 2-0 lead. In the second half we were already struggling. Rayo was better than us and from tomorrow we will start to think and work on next season".

Asked about the return of the public to Butarque, for the Leganés coach "the response today has been very good, especially with the ovation of the people with the 1-2. That's Leganés, who in those complicated moments have always been with the team. Hopefully we will see the field full again because we will welcome them with open arms. Where today there were 1,500, hopefully next year there will be 10,000, it will also be the best sign for the club".
