C.D. Leganés' coach, Asier Garitano, appeared this Thursday at the press conference prior to the match against C.F. Fuenlabrada this Saturday (20:30) at Butarque, corresponding to the thirtieth matchday of LaLiga SmartBank.
The coach confirmed the absence of Jonathan Silva, Lasure and Avilés for the match, while he confirmed that Omeruo, now recovered from his physical problems, could return, and expects a difficult match: "Last year Fuenlabrada was almost able to get into the play-offs and this year the idea was the same. They are a well-worked team, with physicality but also soccer, speed, experience and some players who are at a very high level for this category. They haven't lost in their last three outings and it's going to be complicated. Every game gives us the chance to cut back on the teams above us, and we continue along the same lines," he analyzed.
"Every week is fundamental, and this game will tell us how we get to the next one".
Asier does not look at the calendar and focuses on the next game: "The difficulty is great and there are not many differences between the teams at the top and those at the bottom. We are all going to struggle in this second round, and every game is a different story. Each week is fundamental, and this game will tell us how we get to the next one".
When asked if he could keep the three central defenders scheme that the team showed last Sunday in Oviedo, the player from Bergara stated that "it is one of the options. The squad allows us different systems and we will decide, it is wide and it is not easy to get minutes, but everyone is training well and I am sure that the opportunity will come to them. We know the characteristics of each player and there are times when we have to balance so that the rivals don't take advantage of us in certain aspects of the game to try to compete and continue to bother the people at the top".
The coach confirmed that only Omeruo will leave with his national team next week ("the more people we have, the better for the team"), and had words of encouragement for Daniel Lasure, recently operated on for a testicular tumor injury: "Unfortunately he can't help us and we wish him the best. We send him our support, strength and peace of mind".
