A demanding victory for the pepinero affiliate side against the 2nd place team of Group 1 of Segunda RFEF. Aymane and Javi Rubio both found their way onto the goalsheet.
C.D. Leganés 'B' produced a 2-0 win over Pontevedra C.F. in the 20th league fixture of the campaign. The team coached by Carlos Martínez delivered a remarkable performance that saw their points tally rise to 31 overall, this, against an opponent who had not experienced defeat since last November.
The field looked as level as could be during the first half however, with both teams vying for the upper hand. Though without big chances at either end, the second half would bear the fruits of the pepineros' labour.
Indeed, it was only three minutes into the second 45 that Aymane etched his name onto the scorecard, successfully attacking a wide ball from Diego. It was a game of seconds no doubt; the finish edging Leganés over the league runner-ups marked Aymane's second goal of the season, but the footballer was soon experiencing his second booking of the match in the 55'. Celebrations for Carlos Martínez's blanquiazules had to be cut short.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, C.D. Leganés 'B' marshalled Pontevedra expertly to deny them any significant looks on goal. The pepineros did not stop there and went on to double their lead in injury time as Javi Rubio found himself alone on goal, converting without hesitation.
Three more points in the war chest for the pepinero second team, points precious to their efforts to maintain their play-off position. Pepineros become pilgrims for their next league encounter, as the northern journey to Compostela awaits.
