From the start, Asier Garitano introduced changes in his lineup compared to the one that won seven days ago in Girona: Sergi Palencia, Luis Perea, Kevin Bua and Miguel de la Fuente came on in place of Rodri Tarín, Rubén Pérez, Javier Avilés and Sabin Merino. The Pepineros came out with enthusiasm, and in the 6th minute they had their first clear arrival with a header by Luis Perea from a corner kick that Tomeu Nadal caught.
Rubén Pardo, from a free kick, and Róber Ibáñez scored in the first half.
The visitors were looking for quick attacks as a result of an advanced pressure, but in minute 18, C.D. Leganés took the lead: a foul committed on Kevin Bua at the edge of the area, slightly off-target, and Rubén Pardo scored the first goal of the afternoon. It was his third goal in the championship, all of them from direct free kicks in the last four matches.
Shortly after, in minute 23, the Pepineros doubled their lead: a quick play on the left flank for Javi Hernández, who put it to the heart of the area, Eraso failed to finish and Róber Ibáñez, coming from behind, shot past Tomeu Nadal. It was 2-0 and Róber's first goal in his second spell at the club. C.D. Leganés continued to press and, in the 38th minute, Miguel de la Fuente was about to score the third with an attempted lob that fell short and was caught by Tomeu Nadal. The score was 2-0 at halftime.
