C.D. Leganés can confirm their opponent from the final 16 of the Copa Del Rey. The Pepineros will take on Real Sociedad in a single knockout fixture at the Estadio Municipal Butarque between Tuesday 4th-Thursday 6th January (final date and time TBC).
The Pepineros overcame first round opponents Xerez Deportivo F.C. (1-2) at the Chapín thanks to goals from Naim and Doukouré, then advancing past the second round after defeating Cultural Leonesa (2-3), after Erasowas joined on the scoresheet by a brace-boasting Bautista. Now the team approach their third battle of what they expect to be a long campaign.
Real Sociedad, the penultimate cup winners
Real Sociedad progressed to the Round of 16 after having emphatically overcome C.F. Panadería Pulido (0-4) and Zamora C.F. (0-3) before that. The Basque club were named winners in the 2019/20 season after a narrow victory over Athletic Club (1-0) in the final. Former Pepineros Joseba Zaldua and Diego Rico will make a return to the Butarque, while current Blanquiazules Asier Riesgo, Rubén Pardo and Jon Bautista await the match against their former club.
