C.D Leganes will visit Villarreal C.F next Sunday (18:30h) at Estadio de la Cerámica where, even though the team hasn’t managed to get a victory yet on Primera División Matches it has won on four occasions playing in Segunda División, Segunda División ´B´ and Copa de S.M El Rey.
The first pepineros’ visit to Vila-Real for an official match was on April 26th, 1992 for a Segunda División B match. It finished with a victory for the white and blues (2-4) with goals scored by Prieto (2 goals), May and Mario.
Both teams played again on January 23rd for 1993/94 Segunda División’s season. Pepineros managed to win 0-2 at el Madrigal, Antonio and Chuso scored on that occasion. C.D Leganés also managed to win 0-1 on 1995/96 season with an Alfredo’s goal managing to get really close to promotion on that season.
Last Leganés’ victory on Castelló was on 1999/00 for 1/32 round of Copa de S.M El Rey match. Even though Leganés won the first game 0-1 with a goal scored by James, it wouldn’t be enough to get to the next round that time because of the loss on the second leg of the round. The pepineros did won a Copa del Rey’s eliminatory round against the Yellows on 2017/18 season round of 16 (1-0 at Butarque and 2-1 at Vila-Real).
All the three games played at Vila-Real for LaLiga Santander ended up with the same result: 2-1 victory for the yellows. The total balance of games played between the teams is 8 wins for Leganés, 5 draws and 12 wins for Villarreal.
