This Friday at 21:00 (CET) C.D. Leganés welcome Real Zaragoza on their fifth journey to the Estadio Municipal Butarque. The pepineros have yet to lose to the visiting zaragocistas, with two local wins and two draws as the results so far, all of them in the Segunda División.
Leganés and Real Zaragoza first clashed in the 2002/03 season, the match ending in a pepinero victory of 2-0 thanks to Argentine striker Pablo Calandria's brace. It would not be until the 2014/15 season that the two clubs would face each other again, the result a draw (2-2) with Chuli and Eraso scoring for the blanquiazules as they closed out thei r promotion season back in the second division. The points were split once again at the start of the 2015/16 campaign, this time 1-1 at full time. Borja Lázaro was the goalscorer for the home side.
Last season's battle, played in October 2020, produced a second Leganés win, in which José Arnaiz's goal took all three points from the maños' hands (1-0). Since then, Leganés and Zaragoza have faced off twice, both in La Romareda, with duel pepinero victories (0-5 last season and 0-2 earlier this season).
