C.D. Leganés wanted to pay tribute and give visibility to the women who are part of the daily life of the club on the occasion of International Women's Day, which is celebrated this March 8. The players went out onto the pitch before the match against C.D. Castellón wearing T-shirts with the name of a representation of their female workers.
Victoria Pavón, in the presidency since 2009, is the visible head of the club's women, present in several of the club's departments. In the day-to-day running of the first team, as equipment manager, and also as coach of one of the club's youth teams, we find Jara Cuenca, as well as press officer Cristina Castañer, who joined the club this season, and Magdalena Sacara, head of the kitchen at the Butarque Sports Facility.
Ana Belén Cuesta heads the Women's Football department, which currently has four teams (Senior, Juvenil, Cadete and Infantil), and in which we also find Lucía Gómez, nutritionist; Rebeca, psychologist who collaborates with the Senior and Juvenil teams; Claudia, physical trainer and assistant coach of the Senior team; Laura, assistant coach of the Juvenil team; Alejandra and Anabel, who, besides being Senior players, are assistants of the Cadete coaching staff; and Icíar, Juvenil player and member of the staff of the Infantil team. In addition, Ángela Bartolomé and Rocío Garrido are responsible for the section's social networks.
Nerea Cacho has been in charge of protocol since the last 2019/20 season, while Natalia Kanaeva works in the administration and finance department. Yolanda Díaz is in the store, and Mariona Antó is the sponsorship assistant, while Carmen Sanz, Rosa del Casar and Irina Porturnak work in maintenance.
In grassroots soccer, there are also several women who contribute to the day-to-day work of the club. In Cantera, Montaña Requejo is in charge of the physiotherapy department, while Ana de la Fuente works as a retrainer in C.D. Leganés 'B'. Aroa Herrero and Andrea Serrano are doing their internships at the Cantera this season.
Finally, in the School there are also several women who contribute their bit in the day to day: Sandra Holguín is the coach of the Prebenjamín 'C', Miriam Calleja works as assistant in the Chupete 'C', Laura Ayllón does the same in the Prebenjamín 'C' and Sara Bartolomé, in the Alevín 'D'.
To all of them, we must add C.D. Leganés Fútbol Sala Femenino, which has more than a dozen workers and around 120 players in their different teams.
