C.D. Leganés pay a visit to C.D. Tenerife this Sunday in their tenth official encounter ever. Chicharreros and pepineros have dueled in both Segunda and Segunda División 'B', with the Madrileños never victorious on their travels, drawing five and losing four.
Their first official encounter in the Canary Islands came in the 1999/00 season, ending in a goalless draw. The following year, in which C.D. Tenerife won promotion to Primera at the Butarque, the chicharreros secured a 3-2 win at their home ground of the Heliodoro Rodríguez López despite goals from Álex and Makukula for Leganés.
The most recent result, another goalless draw
Once the tinerfeños dropped back down to the second division, C.D. Leganés acheived two more ties: 1-1 in the 2002/03 season, with a goal from Macanás, and again 0-0 during the subsequent campaign of 2003/04. The next two Segunda División 'B' meetings finished in pepinero defeats: first in 2011/12 (1-0) and then in 2012/13 (2-1, Dioni scored for the blanquiazules).
The latest three results from the Heliodoro came in the 2014/15 season, with a narrow 1-0 win for the locals; in the 2015/16 season, again goallessly level; and finally last year, which also saw no one score for both clubs.
