C.D. Leganés visits Real Zaragoza this Sunday (21:00) for the fourth time in its history. So far, the pepineros have only been able to win on one occasion, at the beginning of the century, while they have had to come away empty-handed in the last two previous encounters.
The first meeting between the two sides at La Romareda took place in the 2002/03 season and ended in a 2-2 draw. Miguel Ángel, top scorer in the history of Leganés since records began, scored both goals for the Pepineros in the final stretch to come back from the opening goal, although the locals equalized again in the last minutes.
It was not until the 2014/15 campaign that Leganés visited Zaragoza again, on their return to the Second Division. That match ended in a 2-0 win for the home side, thanks to a brace by Borja Bastón, who is now a forward for the Pepeños. The last precedent corresponds to the 2015/16 season, with a 1-0 defeat for the Blue and Whites, despite a penalty saved by Serantes in the second half.
