C.D Leganés won against U.D Las Palmas (1-0) in the first match of LaLiga SmartBank. The pepineros managed to get the first three points of the season after a goal by Juan Muñoz and an assistance by Avilés.
C.D Leganés was making its debut in the competition. Three of the new players were part of the starting line-up: Sergio González, Luis Perea and Róber Ibáñez. Dani Ojeda and Sabin Merino were also part of the starting squad after their return.
Both teams started aiming for ball possession but none of them managed to create relevant options. Róber Ibáñez and Dani Ojeda tried to use the wings, but the visitors were organized and did not left many spaces.
First half without relevant chances
Las Palmas had two chances on the first 30 minutes through Kirian and Benito, but their shots did not reach Cuellar’s goal. C.D Leganés had the first shot on goal after a left-footed shot by Dani Ojeda but Vallés managed to save it. It was 0-0 after the first half.
José Luis Martí made a doble substitution after half-time: Gaku Shibasaki and Juan Muñoz replaced Eraso and Róber Ibáñez. Gaku himself had the first option of second half after a crossed shot. Jonathan Silva also tried without luck. C.D Leganés continued making substitutions allowing Avilés and Borja Bastón to get to the pitch.

Las Palmas had to play with 10 players after Aythami received two yellow cards. The only goal of the match arrived in the 75’: Tarín opened the ball to the wings, Avilés took it to the last part of the pitch and crossed it to Juan Muñoz who scored with a header. 1-0.
Leganés continued controlling the match and also had the chance to increase the score through Shibasaki but Vallés managed again to stop the ball. There was time for Bustinza to play his first minutes replacing Tarín in the last minutes of the match.
There was no time for more and C.D Leganés managed to achieve its first three points of the season. The next match will be on Sunday, September 20th (12:00h) against C.D Lugo at Anxo Carro.
