C.D. Leganés celebrates its 95th anniversary this Friday, June 23rd. The club celebrates the anniversary of its foundation facing what will be its twenty-first season, and tenth in a row, in professional soccer, and with a wide social support.
The club was officially founded on June 23, 1928 by Félix Pérez de la Serna, giving continuity to the initial project of C.D. Once Leones. Its first president was Ramón del Hierro, and its first kit consisted of blue and white shorts. Its first matches were played at the Campo de Tiro, although in the 1930s the club moved to a new field, where it is currently located in the Plaza de Roma.
After passing through the Luis Rodríguez de Miguel, located in the current Plaza Mayor in Leganés, between 1966 and 1998, the club took a step forward twenty-five years ago with the move to the current Estadio Municipal Butarque, where it has played its matches over the last quarter of a century.
Today, C.D. Leganés celebrates 95 years of history playing for the twenty-first season in professional soccer, with a consolidated social mass and continuing with the firm purpose of making its fans feel proud of their club and its values of work, enthusiasm and ambition.
