C.D Leganés has officially presented the Japanese international player Gaku Shibasaki as its new player. He will wear the number 8 and was excited for the new season is about to start. He thanked the club for the trust put in him.

The club’s sports director Txema Indias introduced Gaku: “Everything was easy and fast with him. Our manager’s relation with him was great and helpful for both parts. He is a player that has great numbers on both national and international levels, he played a club world cup final, has experience in world cups, Asian cups… he is adapted to our league, knows the country and the Spanish football and I think he will bring joy to us this year”.

“Leganés’ project is great, the club is aiming for great things”

Shibasaki is happy about his arrival to the club: “I am happy to be here. I am thankful with the club and will give my best to help reach our objectives. I hope the fans get the opportunity to celebrate and I cannot wait to see them all at Butarque. It will help us if they see we put our 120% on the pitch. It will give us a plus and that is important for us”.

Gaku talked about his skills as a player and his experience in LaLiga: “My favorite position is offensive midfield as an “eight” but I also can play as midfielder, mid-forward or as a winger. I will play whenever the coach tells me to. It is my fourth year in Spain, and I am aware of second division’s difficulty, it is a hard, complex and leveled competition. We must put everything from us on every training session and be concentrated until the last minute”.

The japanese player valued the project of C.D Leganés as a key for his arrival: “Leganés’ project is great, the club is aiming for great things and I have known the manager already. I hope to help the team to reach our objective this season. If I play well at Leganés I hope to continue playing for my national team”.
