C.D Leganés’ manager attended the media before the match that his team will play R.C.D Espanyol (Thursday, 19:00h) at Butarque for the matchday 14 of LaLiga SmartBank.
Martí does not think that the match preparation should be different when playing against the leader: “There is a lot of equality in the competition and everything changes with a matchday. Espanyol has great players and the character to overcome difficulties. We have the three points in our mind, we would like to be the leaders by the 42nd matchday which is what really matters”.
Omeruo, Avilés, and Santos will not be available because of injuries
The manager confirmes that Omeruo, Avilés, and Santos will not be able to play since they are injured. Gaku Shibasaki is on doubt. About the rivals: “We will face a rival that will demand a lot from us and will press during the match. We have thought about some alternatives to support the midfield and counter their attacking football. We have planned different systems and we may use them on the match”.
The manager does not want to think beyond the next match: “I do not like to anticipate, it should be normal if we rotate but we will think about that only in the next match”. He valued the rivals beyond their individualities: “The thing I am most worried about is the team. Espanyol is not only Embatba or De Tomás, but the entire block is also balanced”.
