Mexico international defender Diego Reyes joins C.D. Leganés until the end of the season

C.D. Leganés and Fenerbahçe S.K. reached and agreement for Mexican internation defender Diego Antonio Reyes Rosales. The defender has previous experience in LaLiga where he played for Espanyol and Real Sociedad, besides playing European competitions with Porto and several international tournaments with his national side.

Reyes is a centerback that can also play at right back or holding midfielder. He started his career at Club América in México, getting his debut with just 17 years old and playing for 3 seasons in the first team, winning the Torneo Clausura in 2013. That summer he arrived at Porto where he played 14 games in his first season in Europe, among those, was the Europa League final. In the following year, he played in the Champions League quarter finals against Bayern Munich.

In the summer of 2015, Reyes got loaned to Real Sociedad. He was a key piece for David Moyes's team and also for Eusebio Sacristán, playing 28 official matches and clocking more than 2.400 minutes in which he scored 2 goals against Espanyol and Levante. The following season he was loaned again, this time to Espanyol where he played 35 matches (and almost 3.000 minutes), scoring one goal against Betis.

In 2017 he went back to Porto where he won the Portuguese league title, playing 24 official matches, 6 of them in the Champions League. Last summer he was transferred to Fenerbahçe in Turkey where he has played 14 matches so far, 4 of them in the Europa League, scoring one goal.

Diego Reyes has 57 caps for Mexico. He got his debut in Copa América 2011, and was also part of the team that won Olympic Gold in London inn 2012. He played in the Confederations Cup in 2013 and also in the 2014 World Cup. In 2015, he won Copa Oro in CONCACAF and also played in Copa America Centenario in 2017 and Confederations Cup 2017. Sadly, he missed the 2018 World Cup due to injury, although he was included in the initial 23-man squad.
