C.D. Leganés receives Málaga C.F. this Monday (21:00) at the Estadio Municipal Butarque, in a match corresponding to the forty-first round of LaLiga SmartBank. The pepineros could mathematically qualify for the promotion play-offs if they get the three points.
C.D. Leganés face their last home game of the regular league after having climbed to third place in the table last matchday, a position they had not occupied since last November, equaling their best classification of the season. The pepineros depend on themselves to qualify for the play-offs, something they would achieve already this Monday by beating Málaga C.F.
For this, the Blue and Whites' coach, Asier Garitano, will not be able to count on up to six players due to injury: Bustinza, Omeruo, Lasure, Shibasaki, José Arnaiz and Borja Bastón. For his part, Ignasi Miquel could return to the squad two months later after returning to training with the group this week. Despite the numerous absences in recent matches, Leganés has accumulated six consecutive matches without defeat in what is its best unbeaten streak of the season.
Málaga C.F., aiming for victory in their last outing of the season
For their part, Málaga C.F. arrive at Butarque without aspirations as far as the possibility of reaching the promotion play-offs is concerned. The Andalusians reached the fifty points that represent the virtual salvation, and achieved the mathematical permanence a couple of matchdays ago, so they arrive to these last matches without difficulties. The Malagueños will want to close the campaign with a new away victory, which would mean no less than the ninth of the season.
The Costa Rican team faces the match after six matchdays without a win, in which they could only draw twice against U.D. Las Palmas and R.C.D. Mallorca, and their last two matches ended in defeats by the minimum against Real Oviedo and Girona F.C. The coach, Sergio Pellicer, who will not be on the bench after being sent off in the last matchday, will not be able to count on the suspended Mejías and Cristian. Former goalkeepers Dani Barrio and Juan Soriano will return to Butarque, this time with the Malagueño shirt.
The match will be refereed by the Catalan referee, Mr. Rubén Ávalos Barrera.
