C.D. Leganés receives C.D. Tenerife this Sunday (14:00) at the Estadio Municipal Butarque, in a match corresponding to the twenty-sixth round of LaLiga SmartBank. The pepineros are looking to finish the week with another victory, which would mean the fifth in a row.
The visit of the chicharreros puts an end to an intense week for C.D. Leganés, who won against Albacete Balompié (3-1) and U.D. Almería (2-1). Two victories that, added to those achieved in the two previous matchdays against C.D. Lugo (3-2) and Girona F.C. (0-2), have placed the pepineros closer to the direct promotion places, three points away from second place and five points away from the leadership.
This Sunday's challenge will not be easy, as it would mean linking five consecutive wins, something that Leganés has never achieved in its history in the Second Division and that, precisely, was prevented by Tenerife winning at Butarque in the 2015/16 season (0-1). For this, Asier Garitano will be able to count on almost his entire squad, with the only exception of the injured Luis Perea.
C.D. Tenerife, aiming for a third consecutive win to continue climbing up the table
For its part, C.D. Tenerife arrives at Butarque in search of its third consecutive victory. The Tenerife players won the last two matches against Rayo Vallecano (0-1) and S.D. Ponferradina (1-0), and have won five of their last seven league matches, obtaining sixteen of the last twenty-one points at stake, which has taken them to the middle of the table.
The coach of the chicharreros, Luis Miguel Ramis, has no suspended players, but he will have the absences of the injured Bruno Wilson, Jacobo, Borja Lasso, Aitor Sanz and Zarfino. Undoubtedly, it will be a special match for Jon Ander Serantes, who will return to Butarque for the first time after joining C.D. Tenerife in the last winter transfer window.
The match will be refereed by the Catalan referee, Mr. Rubén Ávalos Barrera.
