The C.D. Leganés Foundation collaborates with LaLiga in Za'atari project.

Fundación C.D. Leganés collaborates with Fundación LaLiga in this solidarity project to improve the lives of Syrian refugees in the Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan. The LaLiga and Primera Iberdrola clubs have collaborated by providing sports equipment to the young athletes.

The work of the coaches located in the area has been vital to develop sports and socio-educational actions that are generating a favourable framework of coexistence and integration in the Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan, the second largest Syrian refugee camp in the world. The launch of a new football league in this town in Jordan, which began last summer, has provided an extra dose of motivation for the population.

Za'atari is the fourth largest city in Jordan and is located in the north of the country, approximately 70 kilometres from the capital Amman, with a population of 80,000 refugees, half of whom are under the age of 18. The championship kicked off on 1 September with coaches and referees who have been trained by LaLiga. All the different integration actions carried out in the refugee camp and the daily work have allowed the development of different sporting and socio-educational actions that are generating a favourable framework of coexistence and adaptation of the participants and their families.

Each of the districts in the refugee camp is twinned with one of the 33 clubs of LaLiga Santander, LaLiga SmartBank and Primera Iberdrola that have wanted to participate in this project, including C.D. Leganés, which contributed by donating clothes, trainers and footballs. In addition to expanding healthy lifestyle habits that improve coexistence, the aim is to give a boost to the young people of Za'atari so that they can have a better quality of life and build a more stable and promising future.
