C.D. Leganés failed to score in their fifteenth match against U.D. Almería at the Ontime Butarque Stadium (0-3). Embarba, Chirino, and Arnau scored the goals for the Andalusians.
Paco López fielded the same starting eleven as last week, with the same team that won last weekend in Ceuta. Lega had a chance to take the lead in the 6th minute with a clear opportunity for Duk, who found himself one-on-one with Andrés Fernández after a pass from Diawara, but the Almeria goalkeeper saved with his foot. However, Almería took the lead in the 10th minute through Embarba, who beat Juan Soriano with a long-range shot to make it 0-1.
Embarba put Almería ahead in the first half
Lega tried to react and continue their good start to the game with a shot from Juan Cruz that was blocked by the Almería defense. Leganés claimed a penalty in the 23rd minute when Duk went down, but the referee did not consider it a foul, and in the 24th minute, Rubén Peña had a chance after a good run that was blocked by Andrés Fernández. Another chance for Cissé in the 26th minute for a Leganés side that deserved better luck.
Another chance for Duk in the 35th minute from a free kick that went slightly wide, and shortly after another attempt at a bicycle kick that went just wide. With good vibes for Lega, but behind on the scoreboard, the teams went into halftime.
Chirino, at the start of the second half, and Arnau, at the end, sealed the match
The second half began with another clear chance for Leganés, with Cissé heading the ball after a great assist from Rubén Peña, which Andrés saved again. Peña claimed another penalty in the 47th minute after falling inside the area, but the referee did not consider the contact sufficient. However, in the 50th minute, Almería doubled their lead with an individual effort from Chirino, who beat Juan Soriano to make it 0-2.
Leganés sought a reaction to adversity, making a double substitution in the 57th minute with Melero and Miguel coming on for Lalo and Diego García. Barely three minutes later, Paco López was forced to make another substitution due to Rubén Peña's injury, with Roberto López coming on in his place. Miguel had a chance to reduce the deficit in the 70th minute after a goal by Embarba was ruled out by VAR, but his shot went slightly over the bar. In the 83rd minute, the Blue and Whites made their final substitutions, bringing on Figueredo and Pauwels for Jorge Sáenz and Naim.
In the 89th minute, Arnau scored the final goal to make it 0-3 after a counterattack by Almería that sealed the match. Leganés remains on 18 points in the standings and their next match will be on Sunday 30th (2:00 p.m.) away against Real Zaragoza.
