Born in Conakry and trained at local clubs such as Syli Authentic and FC Sequence, in 2014 he made the leap to European football by joining San Marino Club in Italy’s Serie C. His youth and talent drew the attention of several top-tier clubs, and in the summer of 2015 he signed with Bologna. Just a year later, Napoli acquired his services, and he made his Champions League debut at just nineteen years old.
With Napoli, he played three seasons, participating in European competitions each year and appearing in a total of 74 matches for the club. In the summer of 2019, after three seasons in Naples, Diawara signed for another Serie A giant, Roma. With the Giallorossi, he played 58 official matches in his first two campaigns, reaching the UEFA Europa League semifinals. In his final year at Roma, under coach José Mourinho, he won the UEFA Conference League title.
In 2022, the Guinean began a new chapter at Belgian club Anderlecht, where he stayed for two and a half seasons. In the previous season, after leaving Belgium, he played the final part of the campaign with C.D. Eldense, scoring two goals in twelve matches following his arrival in March.
At the international level, Diawara has been a regular with Guinea since his debut for the senior team in 2018, participating in three Africa Cup of Nations editions and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
