C.D. Leganés failed to pick up any points in their LALIGA HYPERMOTION matchday six fixture against U.D. Las Palmas (0-1), suffering their first defeat of the season. Ale García scored the only goal of the game early in the second half. The referee ruled out a goal by Diawara with the score at 0-0 after a millimetre offside.
Leganés made one change to the lineup that won last Sunday in Granada, with Miguel de la Fuente returning to the starting eleven and Gonzalo Melero remaining on the bench. Paco López repeated the three-center-back formation, with Duk and Naim as wing-backs, although this time Juan Cruz joined Diego and Miguel as the team's most advanced players.
Leganés dominated the first half, with a goal by Diawara ruled out due to Diego García being millimeters offside in the play
The match began with Leganés trying to take the initiative and get into the opponent's area via the wings, with a first dangerous shot by Diego García in the 14th minute from a corner kick by Naim that went just over the bar. In the 23rd minute, the same players were involved again, with Naim coming in from the left and sending the ball to the far post, where Diego was ready to shoot. In the 29th minute, Diawara scored after a great team move, but the referee, at the request of VAR, disallowed the goal due to Diego being millimeters offside.
Lega continued to press for the opener, and in the 39th minute, Miguel and Cissé tested Horkas, but the visiting goalkeeper cleared the danger. In added time, Horkas again saved a shot from Miguel, and a header from Diego after a run by Duk went high. With the score at 0-0, despite Lega's dominance and chances, the teams went into the break.
Ale García, also cleared by millimeters, scored the only goal of the game at the start of the second half
Leganés started the second half unchanged, with Ale García's first shot for Las Palmas from a corner kick being the islanders' first dangerous move of the game. In the 51st minute, the yellows took the lead through Ale García, who took advantage of a ball behind the defense, again cleared by millimeters according to the semi-automatic offside rule, to beat Juan Soriano in a one-on-one and make it 0-1.
In the 60th minute, the Pepineros were reduced to ten men after José Antonio Sánchez sent off Cissé for a second yellow card in a move in which the Guinean had been fouled. In the 64th minute, Paco López made a triple substitution to rebuild the team, bringing on Melero, Pauwels, and Álex Millán in place of Naim, Diego, and Miguel.
First defeat for Leganés, who will play at home again next matchday
Despite being a man down, Las Palmas enjoyed more possession against Leganés, who made their final substitutions in the 72nd minute, bringing on Figueredo, who was making his competitive debut, and Roberto López in place of Duk and Juan Cruz. From then until the end, despite the Blue and Whites' attempts to get closer to the opposition's goal, Las Palmas slowed down the pace of the game so that hardly anything happened.
This was Leganés' first defeat of the season, leaving them with seven points in the standings. The Blue and Whites' next match will be on Monday 29 (8:30 p.m.) again at Ontime Butarque against C.D. Castellón.
