C.D. Leganés coach Igor Oca appeared at a press conference after the match between the Pepineros and Real Sociedad ‘B’ at the Ontime Butarque Stadium (2-0). The coach assessed the victory as follows:
Goals from the forwards: "We used common sense. We work to win, and it's normal for our forwards to be the closest to the goal. I'm happy with them and with their previous work. The maxim is not to concede goals and to score goals. I'm happy for Álex, for Diego, and for the work of the whole team. It was a complete match, especially in the second half. That shows how hungry the team is. The fans are happy, and so are we to share it with them".
Improvement in the second half: “We try to identify the advantages on one side or the other. In the first half, we attacked a lot on the outside, more on the right side because of the opponent's structure. Then they played more like they usually do, and we were able to generate more on the inside. That's how soccer works sometimes”.
Getting the best out of Juan Cruz: "It's not really a surprise when there's a willingness to work. It's normal for them to return to their regular form. We don't give anything away to anyone; if we think they should start, it's because of their quality. I'm happy for Juan, who helped us win, and for other teammates, who were important today".
Contribution from the bench: “In today's soccer, with five substitutions, you can use strategies in the final minutes to decide games. Beyond the disappointment of not starting, they can contribute from the bench, and that's what's happening, with very good performances in the starting lineup and sometimes coming on for just a few minutes. We're very happy with that”.
Missed penalty: “Alex took responsibility. The other day he scored, and today he decided to take it that way. Then he turned the situation around, and the team, after that blow to their morale, had the hunger to be closer to 3-0 than 0-0 after the missed penalty”.
Team level: “Everyone is responsible. The numbers are starting to be acceptable, but the reality is what it is. Today we are very happy, but there are games that demand very clear things from us. We want to aspire to play games against teams at the top and beat them. We are going to take a step forward and fight for it, but we have to prove it, the coaching staff and the players”.
