C.D. Leganés was unable to pick up points in their matchday 41 fixture in Cádiz, suffering a 3-0 defeat. Lucas in the first half, followed by De la Rosa and Antoñito Cordero in the second, scored the goals for the home side.
Igor Oca made just a single change to the starting lineup compared to the previous matchday, with Luis Asue starting upfront instead of Diego García, who began on the bench on this occasion.
Cádiz took the lead in the 7th minute of a first half in which Roberto López had the best chances for Leganés
The match could not have started any worse for the "pepinero" interests. Cádiz took the lead in just the 7th minute through Lucas, who capitalized on a rebound after a Pascual shot rattled the crossbar to make it 1-0. Leganés tried to bounce back from the early blow with a dangerous play in the 10th minute, culminating in a Roberto López cross that Rubén Peña agonizingly failed to reach. Roberto López tried his luck again from long range in the 12th minute with a powerful left-footed strike that David Gil managed to save in two attempts.
In the 20th minute, the Zaragoza native took another shot from the edge of the area—this time with his right foot—but missed the target. He tested the keeper once more in the 27th minute, but David Gil gathered safely. With no further clear-cut chances in the first half, the teams went into the break with the hosts holding a narrow lead.
The home team sealed the victory in the second half
The second half began with a double substitution by Igor Oca, who refreshed the entire right flank by introducing Figueredo and Duk in place of Lalo and Rubén Peña. Lega seized the initiative against a deeply defensive Cádiz side that focused on protecting their advantage, conceding very little to the Blue and Whites. Past the hour mark, Óscar Plano and Álex Millán replaced Juan Cruz and Asue to inject more bite into the Leganés attack.
In the 69th minute, disaster struck as Cádiz made it 2-0. Naim finished off a Leganés attack with a powerful right-footed shot that smashed against the crossbar; on the ensuing counterattack, De la Rosa found himself one-on-one with Juan Soriano and beat the goalkeeper to double the home side's lead. In the 78th minute, the final "pepinero" substitution saw Diego García come on for Ignasi Miquel. Just two minutes later, in the 80th minute, Cádiz sealed the 3-0 scoreline courtesy of Antoñito Cordero.
With this result, Leganés remains on 43 points in the standings. They will face their final, decisive match of the season next Sunday (18:30 CET) at home against C.D. Mirandés.
