C.D Leganés could not get any points on their visit to F.C Barcelona. The pepineros played an organized match but Ansu Fati’s goal at the end of the first half and a debatable penalty kick scored by Messi on the second half defined the match.
A highly organized Leganés had the best options on the first half.
Javier Aguirre presented six changes on the initial squad vs last match against Real Valladolid. Aitor Ruibal, Tarín, Rubén Pérez, Recio, Eraso and Guerrero played from the start. The pepineros started playing well and had the first option on the 11th minute after Lenglet stopped a shoot by Guerrero that had already beaten Ter Stegen. Two minutes later, Guerrero had another chance, but the post stopped it that time.
Leganés was playing with order in the back and stopped the azulgranas’ attacks. The first occasion for the locals arrived on the 29th minute through a header by Griezmann. Barcelona started to lead the game on the 41st minute when Ansu Fati scored after a bad ball reject by the defense. It was the first shot on goal by Barcelona but allowed the locals to finish the first half winning the match.
A debatable penalty kick defined the score
Javier Aguirre made a substitution after half-time: Roger Assalé got to play replacing Roque Mesa. The Ivory Coast forward had a chance on the 53rd minute but Ter Stegen managed to stop it. On the 62’ Amadou replaced Eraso on the pitch. Two minutes later VAR called off a goal scored by Griezmann because of an offside by Semedo.
On 68’ the referee called a debatable penalty kick after a foul by Jonathan Silva over Messi. The Argentienan scored the second goal for Barcelona (2-0). The third and fourht substitutions arrived for Lega when Carrillo and Kevin Rodrigues replaced Guerrero and Silva. On 81’ Carrillo tried his luck, but the ball did not reach the goal. Bryan was the last player that got into the pitch replacing Recio. Nothing relevant occured but Javier Aguirre´s suspensión on the 94th minute.
Leganés, with 23 points on the table is now thinking about the next match against Mallorca this Friday (19:30h).
