As if it was today… 26 years ago we played for the first time on a league’s game against Real Betis at home. It was the pepineros’ first season on Second Division and the team was fighting to keep the category while the Béticos were fighting to get back to first division.

The white and blues where positioned on relegation spots and were about to play the second of the league. Luis Ángel Duque’s team was: Aguilera, Juanma, Mesas, David, Barba, Chuso, Alfredo, Vivar Dorado, May, Miguel Ángel and Antonio. Valdivia and Luis Ricardo played on second half.

Betis started winning the match with a penalty kick goal scored by Aquino. Miguel Ángel, also through a penalty kick tied the game up on the first minutes of the second half. Julio Soler scored the final goal of the match and Betis managed to win that day at Municipal Luis Rodríguez de Miguel.

Leganés remained at the last positions and needed to continue fighting to keep on second division for next season.
