C.D Leganés’ manager Javier Aguirre attended the media this Thursday in the pre-match press conference held at I.D Butarque before the 30th matchday of LaLiga that will be played this Friday (19:30h) against Real Mallorca at Visit Mallorca Estadi.
The pepineros’ coach was convinced about the team chances taking in account the necessity to obtain a positive result at Palma: “Both teams have to go for the match and we will find the best way to win it. I am convinced that the team will fight and reach survival”, he affirmed.
Aguirre thinks that the team has played two good games after the stop and luck and fortune have not helped them: “We have a team that is physically well prepared, we did not get the results on the last two matches but we worked well on both. We could prevent the goals we received, however I am satisfied. It is difficult for me to speak about suppositions, there are nine remaining matches and we are four points away from survival. The only thing we can measure are the numbers and it is what it is. We have had to reinvent ourselves during the season, attacking from the sides, from the second line in order to help our forwards to have some options, let´s hope they can score on these remaining matchdays”.
The Mexican manager did not want to involve in referee’s decisions debates after the last games and even more about his recent suspension at Camp Nou and the penalty kick called against the team: “In forty years of career I have always talked and whistle a lot. The referee considered that it bothered him. I will continue doing my job the best way I can. He considered that it deserved a punishment and I assume that. About the penalty, he saw it and called it, I will not make any valuations about it. There have been similar situations in the games we have played, for example at Valladolid there was a play with Braithwaite that the referee did not call. It is his criteria and there is nothing to comment about that”.
