C.D Leganés’ manager Javier Aguirre attended the media on the press conference held at I.D Butarque before playhing against F.C Barcelona tomorrow at Camp Nou (22:00h). The manager confirmed Siovas and Óscar’s suspensions and affirms that the team must try to win.
The mexican coach wants to forget last match against Real Valladolid and is now focused in the next game against the azulgranas: “We must try to win the game. On Saturday we lost and we should recover from that. We are in trouble in the rankings and less matches are remaining. There is no other plan than trying to win the next match”.
Aguirre confirmed that all the players are available except from Siovas and Óscar that got suspended after reaching their fifth yellow card of the season: “We have a plan for the next ten games and will use the people we think are required. We do not have starters or substitutes, we all play on the same level and there will not be specific resting days for anyone. We will try to play with the ones that we consider fit better, but if there is something to highlight about last game was the good physical situation of the team. We ran a lot and did not feel exhaustion. Once the match is over, we will start thinking about Mallorca”.
The pepinero’s coach valued the fact of playing without public against Barcelona at Camp Nou taking in account what has happened on the previous matchday: “We have spoken about that. It is a fact that intensity, concentration, and rules are the same… I don´t think that an empty Camp Nou may impact the players’ performance. Barça is used to pressure with or without public”.
At the end, Aguirre praised the former pepinero’s forward Martin Braithwaite who is now playing for the culés: “I like him as a player, he is a professional that is always striving to improve and he will be a risk for us”. He believes the team still has options: “We all have made our own critics. It is true that we have lost seven of our first nine matches and lost our two forwards, but I humbly still believe we will reach the survival”.
