As if it was today… fourteen years ago Leganés tied against San Sebastián de los Reyes at Matapiñonera (1-1) on the league’s last matchday and secured the survival on Segunda 'B' for next season. Migui’s penalty kick goal allowed the team to save from relegation.
It was the 2005/06 season (The picture features a match at Butarque) and Leganés’ hopes were to return to Segunda División after being relegated two years before. However, the pepineros arrived to the last matchday of the season with the need to sum up points against San Sebastián de Los Reyes that had already secured the survival.
Santiago Martín Prado’s initial squad was: Raúl Moreno, Dani Hernando, Miguel Alfonso, Sambruno, Solano, Quero, Aguilera, Rodri, Robert, Tito and Sequeiros. Landáburu, Migui and Rebollo played on the second half.
A loss would make Leganés to play the relegation playoffs and their rivals started winning with a goal by Redondo. However, fifteen minutes before the end of the game Migui scored a penalty kick that allowed the team to save the category for next season.
