As if it was today… nine years ago Leganés won against Badalona at Butarque (2-1) on the first round series of the promotion to Segunda División playoffs. The pepineros got to play their next match at Cataluña with advantage thanks to Ferrán Tacón and Arruabarrena goals.

Leganés had finished fourth on the regular season and thus qualified for the promotion playoffs. The first leg was played at Butarque with all the pepineros’ fans. A tribute to Argentinean fan Hernán Montor was celebrated before the start of the match with an honor kick off.

José María Rico’s initial squad was: Rubén Falcón, Pedro Hernández, Mario, Azcárate, Jonay, Bayón, Tonino, Jonatan Valle, Zazo, Ferrán Tacón and Arruabarrena. Chupe, Martín Ortega and Nakor played on the second half. The pepineros took the lead after a cross by Ferrán Tacón that the visitor’s keeper couldn’t stop.

Badalona managed to tie the match with a goal scored by Sellarés. A penalty kick was called by the referee on the last minutes of the game, Arruabarrena was both the fouled and the one to score the last goal for the pepineros (2-1).

Leganés took the lead of the series before playing the second leg at Badalona.
