As if it was today… seven years ago Leganés won against Caudal at Butarque and secured the second position (2-1). The pepineros qualified to the playoffs and had home pitch advantage for the following promotion qualifiers.
It was the 2012/13 season penultimate matchday and the white and blues were qualified for the promotion playoffs. The team was about to play against the third on the league, just 4 points away from the pepineros. Pablo Alfaro’s initial squad was: Rubén Falcón, De la Vega, Corona, Mora, Dani Gómez, Aicart, Valleros, Fer Ruiz, Óscar Vega, Carlos Martínez and Dioni. Álex Bernal, Álvaro Cámara and Pírez played on the second half.
The asturianos started winning the match with a goal scored by David González but Leganés managed to come back just before half time: first it was Fer Ruiz with a header after a free kick cross by Carlos Martínez who scored the second goal some minutes after that with a direct free kick shoot.
Leganés finished second on the league and was about to play the promotion playoffs against Lleida. The second match of the home and away series was going to be played at Butarque.
