As if it was today… six years ago Leganés tied at Guijuelo (0-0) on the away match of promotion playoffs to Segunda División. The pepineros were supported by more than 800 fans. The team had to play with ten players for more than half an hour and the series would be defined at Butarque.
More than 800 pepineros arrived to Municipal de Guijuelo to support C.D Leganés on the away match of the promotion playoffs. It was the first match after the end of the regular season of the league. Lega was about to play against Guijuelo which had the fast winger Rubén Peña.
Asier Garitano’s squad was: Queco Piña, Postigo, Mantovani, Santamaría, Luis Ruiz, Alberto Martín, Eraso, Velasco, Álvaro García, Carlos Martínez and Fran Moreno. Candela, Carlos Álvarez and Abel Suárez played on second half.
Leganés had the control of the match on the first half and was close to score through Velasco and Fran Moreno. Unfortunately, the Mantovani was sent off by the referee (two yellow cards after fouls against Rubén Peña) and the team had to play with ten players during almost the entire second half.
At the end it was a tie that left the score open. Leganés had to win it at Butarque on the next match in order to continue advancing on the playoffs.
