As if it was today… six years ago Leganés won against Guijuelo at Butarque (1-0) and qualified to the promotion to Segunda División playoff’s next round. The pepineros advanced to the second round of the playoff thanks to Carlos Álvarez’s winning goal on second half.
The pepineros were second on the regular season and had tied without goals at Guijuelo so a win was necessary to get to the next round of the playoffs.
Asier Garitano’s initial squad was: Queco Piña, De la Vega, Postigo, Santamaría, Luis Ruiz, Alberto Martín, Eraso, Velasco, Fran Moreno, Álvaro García and Carlos Álvarez. Carlos Martínez, Abel Suárez and Candela played on the second half.
First half was even and did not have many occasions for both teams. Carlos Álvarez got to score the only goal on second half after an assistance by Carlos Ruiz. Lega had more chances to extend their advantage, but Wilfred and the post stopped them.
Garitano’s team got to advance to next round after keeping their goal unscored. They were to play against Lleida.
