As if it was today… six years ago Leganés won against Lleida Esportiu on extra time at Estadio Municipal Butarque (1-0) and qualified to Segunda División promotion finals. Mantovani’s goal allowed the pepineros to get to the final round to compete to get back to the silver category.
The white and blues were to face the second match of the series at home after tying without goals at Camp d'Esports de Lleida. Leganés needed to win as any tie with goals would qualify the ilerdenses.
Asier Garitano’s initial squad was: Queco Piña, Postigo, Mantovani, Santamaría, Luis Ruiz, Alberto Martín, Eraso, Velasco, Fran Moreno, Álvaro García and Carlos Álvarez. Candela and Abel Suárez played during second half while Fer Ruiz did it during extra time.
It was a close match with a lot of tension and few options. Leganés and Lleida were tying 0-0 after 180 minutes played. During extra time Mantovani scored the winning goal with a header after a corner kick. The pepineros held the result and qualified to the promotion finals and were to play against L'Hospitalet.
