As if it was today… twenty years ago Leganés won against Real Sporting at Butarque with two goals scored by Barbarín (2-1), securing the survival at Segunda División for another season. The pepineros got the three points after scoring the winner goal at the end of the match.
Enrique Martín’s Leganés was close to secure the survival after a difficult start on the league. The asturianos were fighting to reach promotion.
The white and blues initial squad was: Raúl, Julián Ronda, Fede Bahón, Macanás, José María, Óscar, Merino, Puñal, Zuluaga, Barbarín and Arteaga. Pachón, Antonio López and Trigueros got to play on the second half.
The goals of the match were all scored on the last 20 minutes. Brbarín put Leganés on front after Antonio Lopez’s cross, Rubén tied for Sporting after that. Barabarín scored on the 89´the winner goal for Leganés that allowed the team to sum up 3 more points at home.
