C.D. Leganés travel the short journey to play C.F. Fuenlabrada this Sunday at 21:00 CEST, a rival whom they have not lost to on their previous trips, both at their new stadium, Estadio Fernando Torres, and their old ground of La Aldehuela. In nine official encounters, the pepineros have won four times and drawn five times.
The first derby on record between Fuenlabrada and Leganés was played in the 1986/87 season when both teams played in the Tercera División and finished 4-1 to the pepineros thanks to goals from Ángel Merino, Quique, Pica and San Juan. Their next clash came during the Copa del Rey of 1991/92, where their first round encounter at La Aldehuela ended tied (1-1), with Labella scoring for Luis Ángel Duque's blanquiazules.
Draw at the Fernando Torres last season
More than a decade passed until the derby was next played, this time in Segunda División 'B'. Between 2004 and 2008, the two teams competed regularly, with pepinero success in 2004/05 (1-2 with a Borja Pérez brace), 2005/06 (0-1 with Castillejo scoring) and 2007/08 (0-1 goal from Juli), and a goalless draw in 2006/07. In both the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, now at the Fernando Torres, Leganés' visits to Fuenlabrada finished 1-1, with Dioni scoring the first year and Javi Eraso the next season.
Last season provides the most recent precedent for Sunday's game, for the first time in LaLiga SmartBank, though it ended tied after 90 minutes (0-0).
