C.D. Leganés earned a point in their third matchday game against R.C. Deportivo (2-2). Miguel and Duk scored for the "pepineros," while Mulattieri and Yeremay, after a controversial penalty in the 85th minute, equalized for the Galicians.
Leganés made only one change to their lineup compared to the last league match, with Álex Millán starting in place of Diego García at the forward position. The match couldn't have started better for the "pepineros," as just twenty seconds into the game, Duk found himself one-on-one with Germán after a through ball from Cissé. Deportivo's goalkeeper saved his shot, but Miguel was there to finish it off and put the "pepineros" ahead in the first minute of the game.
Miguel and Duk put Lega 2-0 up at halftime
Deportivo tried to respond after the first quarter-hour, with two chances that Juan Soriano denied with excellent saves in a one-on-one against Yeremay and another shot from Villares. Leganés sought to impose their game, with two chances from Álex Millán and a couple of good runs by Duk on the left that excited the crowd. Duk himself was involved in the second goal of the match: Miguel fought for a loose ball in the box and passed it to Duk, who, on his second attempt, finished with his left foot to make it 2-0. Lega went into halftime with a two-goal lead.
On a Monday that saw a historic attendance record in the Segunda División with 12,256 spectators, the second half began with a triple substitution by Deportivo in search of a reaction. After the hour mark, Paco López made his first changes, bringing on Melero, Juan Cruz, and Óscar Plano in place of Diawara, Duk, and Álex Millán.
Mulattieri and Yeremay, after a controversial penalty in the 85th minute, equalized for Deportivo
Paco López's team tried to control the pace of the game, but Deportivo reduced the deficit through Mulattieri, who scored with a header to make it 2-1 in the 72nd minute. Diego replaced Miguel in the final quarter-hour as Lega tried to close out the game. However, in the 85th minute, a controversial penalty awarded by Arcediano Monescillo after a slight pull by Marvel on a Galician attacker resulted in the 2-2 equalizer, scored by Yeremay, which would be the final score of the match.
This was the third draw for Leganés at the start of the league, and they will continue on Sunday (6:30 PM) against Cultural Leonesa at the Reino de León Stadium.
