C.D. Leganés played their second friendly match in England against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough Stadium, in the tribute match to Liam Palmer. The Pabellon side drew 0-0 with two great chances from Diego García and a great Juan Soriano.
The match kicked off in Sheffield Wednesday with the home side in possession. Lega had to work hard in defence to stop the English side from scoring the first goal of the game. As the minutes passed, Lega began to stretch more and came close to their opponents' goal, with Roberto Lopez and Juan Cruz both going wide.
In the second half, it was once again the home side who took the initiative. In the 50th minute, it was Juan Soriano who prevented the first goal of the game with a good save from Gassama's shot. In the 61st minute, the Sevillian goalkeeper was again in the spotlight with a fine save from Jamal Lowe's shot inside the six-yard box.
Diego García had Lega's best chance with a shot against the post.
Lega wanted to go on the attack with Diego García and Dani Raba already on the pitch and they tried to generate more danger. The best chance fell to Diego García in the 73rd minute, when he hit the post with a powerful shot. A minute later, in the 74th minute, Diego Garcia also had another clear chance to put the first of the game on the scoreboard but, in this case, his shot was saved by goalkeeper James Beadle. The game ended in a goalless draw in Lega's second friendly match in England.
Borja Jiménez's side will next travel to A Coruña to play the Teresa Herrera Trophy, with two matches on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 August in what will be the last two friendly matches before the start of LALIGA EA SPORTIS on Saturday 17 August at El Sadar (19:00) against C.A. Osasuna.
