José Luis Martí: "We need to have more opportunities, generate more, be more ambitious... We have to keep improving".

The coach of C.D. Leganés, José Luis Martí, appeared this Friday at the press conference prior to the match that the pepineros will play this Sunday (20:30) against U.D. Las Palmas, corresponding to the twenty-second round of LaLiga SmartBank. The coach took stock of the first half of the season and hopes that the team will continue to improve from this very match onwards.

Martí assured that Brandon Thomas could make his debut in a call-up: "He has arrived well, he is in good shape, he participated in a Copa del Rey match with Osasuna and is available to the coach to be called up".
The Balearic coach assessed the moment of the team and took stock of the first round of the championship: "We are having a good balance, we are defending well, but we need to have more opportunities, generate more, be more ambitious... we have to keep improving. We have had phases in the first round: it cost us more at the beginning, but we have been a solid, balanced and aggressive team and we have improved. We lack more accuracy in front of goal. We like to see the team with that solidity, balance, settled and with little distance between lines. We are keeping the initial idea, but with points due to the performance of the players and the knowledge of the squad.

"From the beginning it is clear that the objective we have to pursue is the desired promotion, but we are aware of the difficulty of the category".

The Pepineran coach said that both he and the club have "the responsibility to try to get as many points as possible, and that does not change from the first day. We are self-demanding to get as many points as possible and we have to work on it with effort, sacrifice and goals, which is what we are lacking at the moment. My future is that of Leganés, we all want to achieve the objectives starting with the next three points. From the beginning it is clear that the objective we have to pursue is the desired promotion, but we are aware of the difficulty of the category".
Finally, when asked about possible market movements that could occur in these last days of January, Martí said that they are "open to what can improve what we have. There are a few days left and we will decide what is most convenient for the club and the squad".
