Naim García signs till 2027

C.D. Leganés have finalised an agreement to renew Naim García's, 19, contract until the end of the 2026/27 season. As such, the young player will maintain his links with the club where he developed, at least until the summer of 2027.

Naim first arrived at the club at the academy level from Real Madrid C.F.'s system, having made the step up to senior football this season from Juvenil 'A' of División de Honor, participating throughout the preseason and making his debut on the first day of the LaLiga SmartBank season at the Reale Arena in San Sebastián against Real Sociedad 'B', continuining to clock more minutes under Garitano as well as Mehdi Nafti. He scored his first under the latter, only this Thursday in the Chapín Copa del Rey tie against Xerez Deportivo F.C. (1-2). His youth and drive have brought national and international attention, but the academy-product now confirms he will continue to play for C.D. Leganés until 2027.

"I've made a big dream of mine come true"

The homegrown player was happy to share his delight at the deal's conclusion: "The truth is dreams can come true, and today, I've made a big dream of mine come true, to play in LaLiga and be a professional, which I hadn't thought about since I came out of the youth system. They gave me the opportunity and I wanted to make the most of it. I want to thank all the people who believed in me and gave me that little push. I remember them all and those who have been with me since I was small, who have supported me so that I didn't stop trying to become a professional footballer".

Naim admitted there was no big secret to the first team call up: "Humility, hard work and desire to give everything every time; to feel like one more player in the teama nd to contribute my game and everything I can do to help get points. Since I've arrived, I've been picking up on small details from my teammates, trying to focus as much as possible on the areas I can contribute and keeping close to those who can help me learn".

"Fight; don't stop dreaming and developing. You never know when your time will come"

For the number '34', among the moments he has experienced this season, his debut in an official match stands out: "The debut in Anoeta was the most precious. Also the last Butarque game against Las Palmas, where I bagged a gorgeous assist, but more importantly we won the game and celebrated with the fans, who deserved the result. We have a great team, we can give a lot. It took a lot at the start, but now we're on a good run and I believe it's all going on the up and we can acheive everything we set before ourselves. We have the team for it".

Lastly, the academy graduate wanted to share some wisdom with all the players fighting for a first team spot: "The only thing to say is to fight and don't stop dreaming and developing. You never know when your time will come. When you least expect it, you find you can make the jump no one has tried to land. You have to keep trying, using your head and doing things right - and surely, your life will start to reflect it".
