Naim García, third youngest player to score for C.D. Leganés this century

Academy-developed Naim García became the club's third youngest goalscorer of the century this Thursday. At 19 years, five months and 20 days, the number '34' opened the Blanquiazul account at the Chapín in their emphatic Copa del Rey victory over Xerez Deportivo F.C. (1-2).

Naim made the most of a lovely low pass cutting back to the edge of the box from Sabin merino to control the ball in the air and strike a volley with his right foot, the weaker of the two, to place the ball beyond César to open the scoring. It was his 15th official appearance for the first team, his fourth as a starter after having played against Real Sociedad 'B', S.D. Eibar and Real Sporting from kick off.

Abraham de Lago and Bryan Gil, the youngest scorers of the century

Only two other players have scored for the Pepinero squad at a younger age than Naim this century: Abraham de Lago holds the record with his 2007 goal at the Pájara Playas in Segunda División B at 19 years, one month and three days of age. Bryan Gil, the current Tottenham player, holds the title for second-youngest with his goal against Real Madrid C.F. in the 2019/20 season at 19 years, five months and eight days of age, at the time only 12 days younger than Naim.

Other Pepineros who can claim to have scored their first at 19 years old in the 21st century include Garci, at 19 years, seven months and six days of age, and Ariza Makukula, at 19 years, ten months and 13 days of age.
