On May 15th, 1994, Leganés achieved a historic milestone after securing the survival on their first season playing in Segunda División. The pepineros won against Hércules at Luis Rodríguez de Miguel stadium and kept the category in front of their fans.
Leganés had suffered on the team’s first season in professional football and survival depended on the last home match against Herculés. Luis Ángel Duque’s squad was: Aguilera, Juanma, Dorado, Mesas, Barba, Vivar Dorado, David, Alfredo, Peces, Miguel Ángel and Antonio. Javier Alonso and Luis Ricardo also played on the match.
Municipal stadium was full and exploded after the first goal scored by Vivar Dorado and the penalty stopped by Aguilera. Javier Alonso’s goal closed the match that allowed Leganés to stay at second division for another season. The team continued making history.
