C.D. Leganés presented attacking midfielder Óscar Plano this Thursday as their new player. The native of Móstoles, who joins after achieving promotion with Elche C.F. and has signed for one season, expressed his excitement about his new professional challenge.
The club's director of football, Andrés Pardo, opened the presentation event by stating, "It’s a privilege to have Óscar. He’s a player who will bring us a lot, and we will demand a lot from him as well. We won’t go over his career because it’s well-known. It’s very difficult to find a player like Óscar, and we had to make it happen."
"I’m here to bring my experience and my game to bring joy to all the fans"
For his part, Óscar Plano wanted to "thank Andrés and the club for trusting me and allowing me to keep doing what I love most. I demand a lot from myself, and I’m going to give everything for this jersey. The goal is to bring Leganés back to the First Division. It’s going to be a long year, but I’m confident that with the group and the coaching staff we have, it can be achieved."
The Móstoles native stated, "I didn’t think twice; when I had the opportunity to come, I had no doubts. I know the club will demand a lot from me. The goal is to be as high up as possible, but I’m here to bring my experience and my game to bring joy to all the fans. I’ve played in several positions, but where I feel most comfortable is behind a reference striker. In any case, I’ll try to help wherever the coach places me."
"I think this is the best place for me"
The new '20' in the blue-and-white team assured, "I feel very young and good; I’m going to put up a big fight here. Age doesn’t make you feel better or worse. I’m happy to be here, I want to help the younger players with my experience and bring the club back to where it deserves to be. I came here with Castilla many years ago, and I’ve been very surprised by the club’s growth. The stadium, the locker room, the training facilities… Everything has grown to make us feel in the best conditions."
Plano made it clear that he knows "what my qualities are, and I’ll try to make the most of them. I like to connect with my teammates, and I’ll try to give it my all. It all happened very quickly. The decision was easy; I was sure the moment they showed interest in me, and I think this is the best place for me and my family. Forwards live off goals. I haven’t been the top scorer on my teams, but I always like to contribute from the second line. I think I still have that ability, and I hope to score many goals and bring joy."
Regarding his role, the latest addition to the team acknowledged, "The coach is the one who decides. I’m going to help as much as anyone else; I know what my role is. I hope to play, but if I don’t, I’ll help from the sidelines. I know how to handle that aspect quite well. Hopefully, I’ll be a good luck charm for Leganés, and in a year, we’ll be here again for another season. I’m here to help as much as possible, and I hope and wish we can get promoted to the First Division again."
Andrés Pardo: "I’m very satisfied with the profiles we’re bringing in"
When asked about the progress of the transfer market, Andrés Pardo admitted to being pleased: "The market is going well; we had clear ideas and the capacity to build the squad in terms of the number of players. I’m very satisfied with the profiles we’re bringing in. I’ve always prioritized having the players we wanted, regardless of the timing in the market. We still have some room, and we’ll see in the coming days."
Regarding the situation with Juan Cruz, he commented, "Not much has changed because only a few days have passed. It’s nothing personal against him; he expressed his desire to leave, and for that to happen, there has to be a club that meets our demands. Several clubs have called me; I’ve explained the situation to them, and no club has made an offer that meets our expectations. If that doesn’t happen, negotiations can’t progress, but that’s something that happens in all clubs."
Finally, when asked about a possible replacement for Javi Hernández, Pardo stated, "There are still quite a few days left, but we’re happy with how other players are responding in that position and with the academy players. We’re evaluating," he concluded.
