C.D. Leganés head coach Igor Oca spoke in the post‑match press conference after Sunday’s game between the pepinero side and F.C. Andorra, corresponding to Matchday 37 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, which ended in a defeat for the blanquiazules.
The coach assessed what happened during the match as follows:
Message: "It’s a situation that is very far from what we want, but this is the time to be strong. We have to offer the apologies that are obvious. We’re playing at home and it’s very difficult when you concede four goals. Sorry, and we have to move forward to get out of this situation."
Ability to turn it around: "It’s there. This is the first time this has happened; we’d been competing well at home. We’ll try to keep working so that this becomes an isolated situation. There are no excuses—we have to work and be resilient in the face of this disappointment that we all feel, and we have to turn it around starting next matchday. Fortunately, we have a short week."
Reasons for the defeat: "It was a different match. The start was good; they were less nervous than on other occasions. We had three clear chances at 0–0—the one from Leiva, Duk’s, and Óscar’s. If you score one, it can change everything. Andorra generate very good attacking play; we saw that they scored six against Racing. When you fail to take those early chances, even though we managed to stay organized for forty minutes, everything became much more complicated with the 0–1. In the second half they played with authority, and everything negative tipped against us."
Preparation for the next match: "I never want to give justifications, but we had higher expected‑goals figures. There were performances that were far from what we want, starting with the coaching staff. If we had been effective, things would have changed. We have to clear our heads, look forward, and try to put together the best possible plan to get a positive result on Friday."
Courage: "It’s a situation far from what you like, but from tomorrow we have to stand up with the conviction that we can turn it around. It’s about showing that work and that calmness to get out of the hole. We’ve done it before. We have to take a bit of air, avoid excuses, and take responsibility. It’s not easy, and we’ve seen that from the beginning."
Andrés Campos: "We spoke with the player, and he was willing to play those ten minutes. We have absences for the next match, and the fact that he played those minutes was in case we need to start him in upcoming games."
Diego García: "We kept Duk on the pitch until the final minute. We also had Álex, Óscar, Luis, Dani… Our attacking resources were high—four of the substitutions were attacking‑minded."
Continuity: "In football, anything can happen, but the characteristics of each context are different. We’re at a club where we take a breath before making decisions. There’s little value in thinking about the cushion over the relegation zone—we are confident that we’re giving everything, and we have the courage to try to identify tomorrow what is best for the team ahead of Friday’s match. It’s a complex moment because of the gap to Andorra, but tomorrow we have to approach it in a different way."
Communication with the club: "It’s not a matter of something happening for communication to take place. Communication is daily and constant. We’re experiencing it with disappointment, but not with divided contexts—we’re all on the same page."
Explanation: "Football has these things. In recent matches we’ve had very clear chances, but we’ve also conceded a lot. You have to understand that this happens in football, and we have to work to make sure it’s an isolated case and that it doesn’t happen again. We’re disappointed, but the challenge of changing the team’s face is what keeps you going."
