The Royal Madrid Football Federation held its 35th Annual Gala on Monday, December 1, at the Teatro Nuevo in Coslada. The event included an emotional tribute to historical figures in regional football, including former C.D. Leganés player and current institutional representative of the club, Martín Mantovani.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mantovani for his career in Madrid soccer and in recognition of his role as the foreign player with the most official matches played for Leganés, as well as for his remarkable commitment both on the field and in his institutional role. From his arrival in 2013/14 until his departure in 2018, the Argentine center back was a key player in the historic promotion to the First Division in 2016, and continued to contribute to the club after hanging up his boots.
In his speech, Mantovani expressed his emotion and gratitude, noting that “it was a wonderful cycle” and assuring that, although his time as a player had ended, he remained committed to the club from within the institutions. He also highlighted his pride in receiving recognition from “the great family of Madrid soccer” and reaffirmed his enthusiasm for continuing to contribute to the growth of Leganés from his current position of responsibility.
The gala also recognized the careers of other figures who have contributed to the growth of soccer in the Community of Madrid, such as Iker Casillas, Fernando Torres, and Marcelo. This award reinforces the special bond between Mantovani and the club, reflecting the values of commitment, loyalty, and passion that have marked his entire career at Leganés. Congratulations, Martín!
