C.D. Leganés were unable to pick up points on their visit to Riazor (2–1). Zakaria and Noé scored for Deportivo, while Juan Cruz netted for Leganés. Diawara had the chance to equalize in stoppage time, but the home goalkeeper saved his penalty kick.
Leganés made five changes to their starting lineup compared to the previous matchday, with Figueredo, Ignasi Miquel, Roberto López, Dani Rodríguez and Diego García coming into the starting XI, the latter operating as the most advanced player in Igor Oca’s side on this occasion.
An Even first half with good chances for Lega
The match began at a high tempo, with both teams looking to reach the opposition box in the opening minutes, although without clear chances in the first quarter of an hour. Leganés controlled Deportivo’s early spell, threatening on the counter‑attack, such as in a run by Naim that Juan Cruz was unable to finish. Naim again went close in the 22nd minute, reaching the byline after a fine pass from Roberto López, with Diego García almost getting on the end of it, as well as in the follow‑up forced by Dani Rodríguez.
Deportivo’s first dangerous attempt came in the 29th minute with a shot from Yeremay that went just wide of the post. Leganés responded a minute later with a first‑time effort from Diego following a cross by Juan Cruz that failed to find the target. In the 33rd minute, Juan Cruz tested Álvaro Fernández with a left‑footed volley that the home goalkeeper gathered. Deportivo replied in the 35th minute with a shot from Noubi that Juan Soriano confidently pushed out for a corner. And in the 38th minute, Roberto López struck a bouncing ball with his right foot but was unable to hit the target.
Another chance for Leganés arrived in the 42nd minute through Juan Cruz after a good pepinero build‑up from the back involving Figueredo and Roberto López, but the number 10’s effort went too wide of the Coruña goal. Naim had one more opportunity in the 43rd minute, finishing with a powerful strike that flew over the bar. With the score level at 0–0, the teams went into half‑time.
Zakaria put Deportivo ahead and Juan Cruz equalized for Leganés
There were no changes for the pepinero side after the restart, and in the 47th minute the referee awarded a penalty to Deportivo for an alleged handball by Diawara from a free kick, although the decision was eventually overturned following a VAR review. In the 57th minute, Leganés had a good opportunity from a wide free kick taken by Roberto López and flicked on by Diego, with Ignasi Miquel just failing to reach the ball at the far post. In the 63rd minute, Deportivo took the lead following an attack down the right flank that Zakaria finished off to make it 1–0.
Leganés tried to respond with efforts from Roberto López and Dani Rodríguez, both of which were stopped by the home goalkeeper and the Galician defense. In the 69th minute came Igor Oca’s first substitution, with Ignasi Miquel coming off and Rubén Pulido coming on, making his debut for Leganés after the serious knee injury he suffered in pre‑season. The equalizer arrived in the 74th minute: a long passing move that ended on the right wing at Duk’s feet, who played the ball back to the edge of the box for Juan Cruz. He controlled it and placed a low finish past Álvaro Fernández to make it 1–1, his third goal of the season.
Noé put the Galician side back in front, and Diawara had the equalizer in stoppage time, but the home goalkeeper saved his penalty.
As the match entered the final quarter of an hour, Andrés Campos and Álex Millán replaced Dani Rodríguez and Diego García in an attempt to inject fresh legs into the pepinero side. However, in the 76th minute Deportivo regained the lead thanks to a goal from Noé from the edge of the box, leaving Juan Soriano with no chance. Leganés reacted once again to the setback, with a fierce long‑range effort from Andrés Campos in the 81st minute that crashed against the crossbar of the Deportivo goal. Igor Oca went all out in search of the equalizer in the 84th minute, bringing on Óscar Plano and Asue in place of Figueredo and Roberto López.
In stoppage time, the referee awarded a penalty to Leganés after a lengthy VAR review for a handball inside the Deportivo box. Diawara stepped up to take it, but Álvaro Fernández made the save. It was the final chance for Leganés, who were unable to take points at Riazor and remain on 42 points in the table. Their next fixture will be on Sunday the 10th (16:15) at Butarque against Real Racing Club.
