C.D. Leganés secured a big win at Ontime Butarque against Real Valladolid (3-0), their second consecutive victory in 2026. Álex Millán, from the penalty spot, Joauab, with an own goal, and Roberto López scored the goals for the Pepineros in a great team performance.
Igor Oca made two changes to the team that won in Albacete, bringing Lalo and Naim back into the starting lineup in place of Ignasi Miquel and Duk, who was ultimately unable to take part in the match due to physical discomfort following the game at Carlos Belmonte.
Álex Millán opened the scoring from the penalty spot, and before the break, Jaouab scored an own goal to make it 2-0
Leganés came out strong, with two dangerous chances in the early stages. As a result of their persistence, in the 7th minute, Lega was awarded a penalty for a handball inside the Valladolid area, which the referee signaled at the request of VAR. Juan Cruz took the penalty, which Guilherme saved, but Jaouab brought down Cruz in the rebound and VAR had to intervene again to award Orellana Cid another penalty. This time, Álex Millán took the penalty and converted it to put Lega ahead with his fourth goal of the season.
The visitors tried to respond to Leganés' strong start, and had their first dangerous chance in the 25th minute with a shot from Tenés that went wide. Erlien also had a chance in the 31st minute, in a period where the game was evenly balanced. Naim tried his luck in the 32nd minute with a left-footed shot that missed the target, and Cissé had a chance in the 36th minute with a shot from the edge of the area that went just wide of the right post after some good team play from Lega. Before the break, in the 43rd minute, it was 2-0: a free kick from the side by Naim reached the far post, Marvel fought for it, and Valladolid center back Jaouab ended up putting the ball into his own net. Lega went into the break with the lead.
Roberto López sealed the deal in the second half, coming off the bench again
The second half began with no changes for the Blue and Whites, with Valladolid trying to close the gap against a Leganés side looking to seal the win on the counterattack. On the hour mark, Igor Oca made his first two changes, bringing on Melero for the booked Cissé in midfield and Roberto López for Óscar Plano in the attacking midfield position. Juan Soriano made a good save in the 62nd minute to send Tenés' shot out for a corner, while Roberto López had a chance to seal the win in the 65th minute after a great ball back from Naim, but his shot missed the target.
In the 71st minute, there was another round of substitutions for the Pepineros, with Ignasi Miquel coming on for Franquesa and Marvel moving to left back, and Diego García replacing Álex Millán up front. Melero and Roberto López were close to scoring the third, while the nearly 11,000 spectators at Ontime Butarque continued to cheer on their team. In the 74th minute, Juan Soriano made a great save from a long-range shot by Maroto to prevent Valladolid from scoring. The final nail in the coffin came in the 80th minute, after yet another run by Naim down the left wing, which this time was finished off by Roberto López to make it 3-0 and score his third goal in this league.
In added time, the referee sent off goalkeeper Guilherme for leaving his area, but once again VAR corrected his decision and overturned it. With the final whistle, Leganés closed out the first half of the season with their second consecutive victory, which puts them on 26 points in the table and looking ahead to their next match on Friday (8:30 p.m.) at the SkyFi Castalia against C.D. Castellón.
