C.D. Leganés coach Paco López appeared at a press conference on Friday ahead of the team's match against F.C. Andorra on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) at the FAF Stadium, corresponding to the eighth matchday of LALIGA HYPERMOTION.
The Valencian coach gave his assessment of the situation ahead of the match:
Absentees: “Peña has trained normally for the last two days and, if there are no problems, he will be available to help us. We are all here, there are always doubts about injuries to some players, but in principle everyone will be available except Rubén Pulido.”
The week: “It's been tough. It's hurt us all a lot, but I've noticed, and this was our first message, that we've transformed that pain into positive, competitive energy for tomorrow's game and to turn around what happened the other day. Training has been good once again. We're fired up to give our best tomorrow.”
What the team is missing: “We didn't play our best. We didn't show our identity on the field like in previous games, regardless of the final result. What we want is to continue showing our best, there's nothing stopping us. There are no excuses, we accept criticism as normal. We have our path set out and, above and beyond our obligation, we have the enthusiasm and desire to win tomorrow.”
Andorra: “They are a very dangerous opponent who are playing very good soccer. They are very young players with a lot of enthusiasm, energy, and little to lose. They take a lot of risks, and when they are confident, they become much more dangerous. But we, playing at our level, can beat any team, and we have to focus our energy and our anger on that, knowing where we come from.”
Pressure: “We've had it since day one. We know the path we have to take, where the goal is and when the objectives will be achieved, but also that this doesn't stop. Our idea remains the same: to improve in every game and rise to the challenge in the face of adversity. When difficulties arise, they should be seen as a challenge and not a threat. That's why we insist on focusing on the work and on collective improvement.”
Lack of accuracy: "Even though we didn't finish the other day, the team continues to create many chances and get into scoring positions. It's true that if we don't finish the chance or score a goal, that work is diluted. Regardless of the fact that we didn't do well the other day, we have many chances from the outside and we have to improve that final pass, the finish. We'll keep pushing and we're convinced we'll improve."
Guirao: "Everyone has a chance to play. It's not just about the starting eleven, it's also about the people who come off the bench. Anyone who's in the squad has a chance. Guirao did very well when he came on the other day".
Classification: "In Andorra's case, it's surely deserved for the game they're playing. We've conveyed those virtues from day one, but it's not easy to be in the emotions of the players. We need to be filled with excitement and desire more than obligation. Our players are here because they're here, but we have to prove it in every game. Qualification and history don't matter, but the day-to-day work alone, and that's what motivates us. That's what I see in the team during the week. We have to transform it into the competition, as we've done on other days despite not winning some games."
Club message: "We know we have an exciting project for everyone, and we're all united and in the same boat. That's evident on a day-to-day basis."
