C.D. Leganés coach Igor Oca appeared at a press conference after the match between the Pepineros and Albacete Balompié at Carlos Belmonte, corresponding to matchday 20 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, which ended in a 1-3 victory for the Pepineros.
The coach assessed the match as follows:
Match summary: "No one can fail to notice the change our team made in the second half. In the first half, everyone at the club was unhappy with our performance at all levels, and the reaction has been tremendously positive. We can take this as a turning point. In the second half, we were close to what we want to be, and we have to work hard because we want to be like those 35 minutes that gave us the chance to come back from behind and win. We really appreciate the effort of the whole team".
Relief: “We're still in the danger zone, so we have to fight to win every game. Not just fight, which we lacked in the first half, but play well. We're happy with the final result”.
Fans: “They stuck with us in the first half. It means a lot that they come here, and we're extremely proud of them and that they had the patience to keep cheering us on until we were able to get back into it. We wanted to share the three points with them”.
Wanting to win: “We wanted to do it from the start of the second half. In the first half, we were blocked and out of sync defensively, but that courage and personality to want to win was evident in the second half. The team that won was the one that never gave up in the second half”.
Position in the table: “We have high-quality players, but we also know that the competition is extremely tough and we can't afford to take anything for granted. Everyone has to look at themselves, be aggressive and brave. Not only when we have the ball, but also when we don't have it, to recover it where we want, make it difficult for the opposition to cross and slow down their transitions. We have to work to build on what we did in the second half”.
