C.D. Leganés won their visit to F.C. Andorra (1-2) in a match corresponding to the eighth matchday of the LALIGA HYPERMOTION season. Duk and Naim, with two superb goals at the start of the second half, scored the goals for the Andorrans, while Gael Alonso reduced the deficit for Andorra in the closing stages.
Paco López made four changes to the Leganés starting eleven compared to the last league matchday: Figueredo, making his debut, Marvel, Cissé, after serving a suspension, and Diego García, who was left on the bench from the Castellón lineup against Jorge Sáenz, Melero, Álex Millán, and Miguel de la Fuente, who were awaiting their turn this time, entered the starting lineup. Figueredo and Naim played as wing-backs, while Juan Cruz and Duk started on the wings with Diego as the most advanced player.
Andorra's first chance of the match fell to Lautaro in the 3rd minute. Leganés responded with a fine effort from Juan Cruz, followed by a shot from Diego that Owono had difficulty clearing. After a start with attacks in both areas, the game became more evenly matched midway through the first half, with both teams trying to win the midfield battle and making it difficult for their opponents.
Diego García had the clearest chances for Leganés in the first half, which ended goalless.
In the 33rd minute, Juan Cruz almost had a shot on a cross from Naim from the left wing, but the home defense made the last-minute save. In the 37th minute, Andorra scored from a set piece by Alende, but VAR corrected the referee and ruled out the goal for offside by the Andorra player. Lega responded with another attack from Naim and a shot from Diego in the 39th minute that was blocked by the defense, followed by a shot from Juan Cruz that Owono parried and Diego was close to converting.
Diego, who was making his debut as captain, had another chance in the 43rd minute after a transition between Naim and the number 19, with a header that Owono thwarted just as the goal was already being called. Juan Cruz then had another in added time after a personal move that he couldn't quite finish. The Blue and Whites were feeling good, but with no goals on the scoreboard, as halftime approached.
Duk and Naim's superb goals at the start of the second half put Lega ahead 2-0
The second half began without any changes for Leganés, with the pepineros taking the lead in the 47th minute thanks to a stunning free kick from Duk. Owono surprised the Andorran goalkeeper with a long-range shot that made an impossible arc to overcome, making it 1-0 for Lega. A tremendous goal from the Cape Verdean international, his second of the season.
And with hardly any time to celebrate, in the 51st minute, Naim García produced an extraordinary individual effort down the left wing that ended with a shot that hit the post before going in for Andorra to make it 2-0. The youth product also scored his second goal of the season. Andorra reacted with a shot from Álex Calvo in the 61st minute, to which Juan Soriano responded with a superb save.
Gael Alonso reduced the deficit for Andorra in the final minutes, but the three points came to Leganés
In the 63rd minute, Paco López made his first substitution, bringing on Jorge Sáenz at center back in place of Lalo, who had to come off due to discomfort in his right leg. Five minutes later, another double substitution was made for the Blue and Whites, with Franquesa and Miguel coming on in place of Duk and Diego, Naim moving forward in front of the Catalan full-back, and the number 9 positioning himself as the attacking force.
Leganés controlled Andorra's attempts to reduce the deficit well, and in the 80th minute, Rubén Peña, returning to the field after several matches out due to injury, and Melero came on for Figueredo and Juan Cruz in the final Blue and White substitutions. Andorra reduced the deficit in the 86th minute through Gael Alonso, who finished off a set piece to make it 2-1. However, Leganés defended their lead in the closing stages, with home side Petxarromán sent off after receiving two consecutive yellow cards deep into injury time.
Leganés' second consecutive away win moves them to ten points in the standings and their next match will be away from home next Saturday (4:15 PM) in Vitoria against C.D. Mirandés.
