As if it was today… a year ago Leganés won at Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium (0-3) and guaranteed the survival for next LaLiga’s season. En-Nesyri, Braithwaite and Óscar scored for the pepineros who played an awesome match and sealed the survival with 2 matchdays remaining.
It was the 35th matchday of the season and Leganés was seven points away from the relegation zone. The club needed to win at Sevilla to secure a spot on LaLiga’s next season. Mauricio Pellegrino’s initial squad was: Cuéllar, Juanfran, Bustinza, Omeruo, Siovas, Jonathan Silva, Óscar, Recio, Vesga, Braithwaite and En-Nesyri. Nyom, José Arnaiz and Carrillo played on second half.
Leganés scored on the first half through En-Nesyri after a Braithwaite’s assistance. Braithwaite scored the second goal some minutes after. The now white and blue’s player Bryan Gil almost scored for Sevilla but after kicking the ball to the post. Óscar scored the last goal of the match some minutes after that.
It was a match to remember for all the pepineros because the team guaranteed the fourth season at first division.
